Krzysztof Tupikowski PhD, Head of the Urological Cancer Center and representative of Wrocław University of Science and Technology's Medical Faculty, recently spoke on Echo24 about the groundbreaking PRAISE-U program—a European Commission-funded initiative detecting prostate cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages.
The results speak for themselves: In just one year, nearly 4,000 men participated in screenings across Lower Silesia, leading to the detection of 80 cancers. Many of these men had no symptoms—early detection gave them a fighting chance.
Innovation meets compassion: The program's "Wąsobus" (Mustache Bus) brings screening directly to remote communities, eliminating barriers to care. This mobile unit represents the future of preventive medicine—proactive, accessible, and patient-centered.
As part of an international consortium spanning Poland, Lithuania, Ireland, and Spain, Dr. Tupikowski's team is developing screening algorithms that could become the European standard, potentially saving thousands of lives annually.
