Head of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at Faculty of Medicine, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and research professor, working also at the Polimed Clinic in Wrocław.
Research
Passionate about brain health, she specialises in research on the aetiology and treatment of dementia syndromes and other mental disorders, using both modern technologies (DBS, tDCS, TMS neurostimulation) and psychosocial interventions.
Prof. Rymaszewska was the national leader in the international research projects (including JPND on dementia – psychosocial interventions MEETINGDEM, a social campaign on dementia COGNISANCE, and social health in the development of dementia SHARED as well as in the JPND Working group INTEREST).
She is currently working on the international project HORIZON2020 MSCA ITN under acronim ETUDE (2021-2026) (https://etude-itn.eu) and participates in Cost Action EDEM „Ethics in Dementia” (https://ethicsindementia.org). She leads a research team in a nationwide study entitled ‘Individual, social and environmental risk factors for the mental health of students and veterinarians in Poland and needs analysis, MEDWET study’ (2023-2025) (https://medwet.org) and the research team BRAVES-Cog (https://bravescog.pwr.edu.pl).
Supervisor of 25 completed doctoral theses.
Publications
Author of > 430 scientific publications, textbooks on mental disorders in somatic diseases, consultative psychiatry, methods of brain neurostimulation, and dementia. She organises the annual conference ‘Psychiatry - Interdisciplinary Dialogues’ in Wrocław.

Awards
Among the awards she has received, she considers the following to be the most valuable the honourable title of ‘ACTIVE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DEPRESSION’ awarded by the Association Actively Against Depression, Warsaw (2019), the ‘MERITO DE WRATISLAVIA 2022’ medal and the title of ‘WROCŁAWIANKA OF THE YEAR 2022’ in the scientific and research category.

She is a psychologist and researcher specializing in the application of neuromodulation techniques in psychiatry and clinical neuroscience. She completed a Master’s degree in Psychology with distinction at SWPS University in Wrocław and doctoral studies in medical sciences (psychiatry) at Wrocław Medical University, where she defended her PhD dissertation with distinction.
Her scientific work focuses on the development and clinical implementation of neuromodulation methods, in particular transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct/current electrical stimulation (tDCS/tES), and deep brain stimulation (DBS) in psychiatry. She contributed to the establishment of a neuromodulation research center in collaboration with neurosurgical teams and co-organized the first TMS course in psychiatry in Poland certified by the Polish Psychiatric Association.
She is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, where she is involved in the BRAVES project (Brain Regulation, Vascular, Eye & Stimulation Research), which received funding through a Wrocław University of Science and Technology research infrastructure grant.
In parallel, she conducts clinical work as a CBT psychotherapist and has extensive diagnostic and therapeutic experience gained in outpatient mental health care, inpatient psychiatric units, and as a consultation-liaison psychologist for somatic wards at the University Hospital in Wrocław.
She is a certified TMS and tDCS therapist and a co-author of 28 scientific publications indexed in Web of Science (H-index = 9, over 290 citations). She has participated in and co-implemented research projects funded from national and European sources, including the H2020 MSCA-ITN “ETUDE” project, as well as the nationwide study “Individual, Social, and Environmental Risk Factors for Mental Health in Students and Veterinary Surgeons in Poland and Needs Assessment – the MEDWET study” (2023–2024).
Research interests
Her research interests also include the use of new technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
Dr Iwona Hołowacz , PhD, DSc (Eng.), University Professor

Dr Eng. Iwona Hołowacz, University Professor – for 20 years she worked at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. She is currently a member of the Faculty of Medicine at WUST and serves as Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Teaching. She is a lecturer at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology and the Rector’s Representative for Quality Assurance in Education.
Research interests
Her research interests cover various aspects of modern biomedical engineering. She focuses, among others, on applications of biomedical optics. She is a specialist in the medical use of lasers, confocal and holotomographic microscopy, as well as in biomaterials and the application of image analysis methods.
She is a highly regarded academic teacher, conducting classes using modern teaching methods that incorporate the latest achievements in biomedical engineering. For students of biomedical engineering at WUST and for medical students, she delivers lectures in laser biomedicine, contemporary issues in biomedical engineering, nanoscale biophysical measurements, biomaterials, and conducts numerous laboratory courses.
She has supervised several dozen diploma theses and is a co-author of several academic textbooks.

He is employed as a University Professor in a teaching position.
He is the Head of the Clinical Department of Neurosurgery with the Subdivision of Oncological Neurosurgery and, since 2019, has also served as the Head of the Center for Diseases of the Nervous System at the 4th Military Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic in Wrocław.
He has supervised two completed doctoral dissertations in the discipline of medical sciences.

He is employed as a University Professor in a teaching position, with a professional background in healthcare management and nursing.
Research interests
His scientific interests focus on healthcare for older adults, patients in long-term, hospice, and psychiatric care, as well as on support for families of chronically ill patients.
He is a member of the Polish Society of Palliative Care Nursing, the Polish Society of Public Health, and the Polish Psycho-Oncological Society.
He also serves on the Bioethics Committee at Wrocław University of Science and Technology and on the Commission on Ergonomics of Older Age of the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2023–2026).

Artur Kwiatkowski , MD, PhD (Med.), Research Assistant Professor

Physician, neurosurgeon, working at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Regional Specialist Hospital in Legnica. He is also a physician in residency training in radiology at the Department of Radiology, Affidea Polska in Legnica.
He is a neurosurgeon with 15 years of clinical experience, with particular expertise in emergency neurosurgery, vascular diseases, neuro-oncology, and spine surgery.
Since 2015, he has been collaborating with Wrocław University of Science and Technology on research involving numerical models of the human brain, intracranial injuries, and the application of artificial intelligence in medicine.
He also lectures at Collegium Witelona State University, Faculty of Health Sciences and Physical Culture, in Legnica.
Dr Katarzyna Mariańska , MD, PhD

She is a neurologist, the Head of the Department of Neurology with a Stroke Unit at the J. Gromkowski Lower Silesian Specialist Hospital in Wrocław, and the Head of the Lower Silesian Center for the Treatment of Spasticity and Dystonia. Her team is involved in programs monitoring and improving acute stroke care and participates in the RES-Q registry.
Her clinical practice focuses primarily on neuromuscular disorders. She performs electromyography (EMG) examinations and provides botulinum toxin therapy for limb spasticity of various etiologies as well as for dystonias.
She is the Head of a certified training center offering nationwide training for physicians in botulinum toxin treatment in neurological disorders.
She is also involved in electrophysiological diagnostics of the autonomic nervous system.

She is a first-degree clinical psychologist, a doctor of medical sciences, a certified psychotherapist (Polish Psychiatric Association Certificate and European Certificate of Psychotherapy), a first-degree psychodrama assistant (Psychodrama Institute for Europe E.V. Certificate), and a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in training (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study in Warsaw).
She has worked as a psychologist at the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Wrocław and at the Chronic Pain Clinic of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Wrocław University Hospital. She currently provides psychotherapy in the psychoanalytic approach, also integrating systemic thinking and J.L. Moreno’s psychodrama in her private practice.
For many years, she lectured in psychology at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Wrocław Medical University. She now teaches psychology at the Higher School of Vocational Education in Wrocław and medical psychology at the Faculty of Medicine at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
She is a member of the Polish Psychiatric Association, the Polish Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and the Lower Silesian Association of Psychotherapists.
Research interests
Her scientific interests include health psychology, psychosomatic relations, the psychotherapeutic relationship—particularly its unconscious dimension—and the psychological aspects of the doctor–patient relationship.
Anna Walter, MA , Teaching Assistant

Psychologist, crisis intervention specialist, and psychotherapist in psychodynamic training (Laboratory of Psychoeducation in Warsaw). She works at Falkiewicz Hospital in Wrocław, where she serves as the coordinator of the psychology team.
Research interests
Her primary scientific interests focus on perinatal psychology, clinical communication, and the physician–patient relationship in hospital settings. She is developing research projects on psychosocial factors influencing pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the quality of medical communication in obstetric wards.
She provides individual psychotherapy for adults and conducts training for medical teams in psychological support during the perinatal period.
